Catherine Davies, director of the Digital Healthcare Council said:
“The Digital Healthcare Council welcomes the announcement of a £3.3bn support package for the NHS, announced in the autumn budget. With immense pressure across the system, this additional funding is vital if we are going to tackle system backlogs and deliver the care that patients and service users need.
“In his speech, the chancellor spoke about the need for efficiencies, and digital technology is fundamental to delivering that ambition. From optimising hospital patient flow, to increasing access through remote diagnostics, to triaging waiting lists, helping patients prepare for hospital visits and much more, digital technology is transforming NHS services across the UK. If the government is going to deliver an efficient health service, then it must commit funding to the accelerated uptake of digital technology, scaling pockets of regional excellence so that these innovations can benefit more people across the country”
